Hello and thanks for stopping by! This is my 16th year teaching, and as cliche as it may sound, each year is more enjoyable than the last. I have taught high school for a decade and junior high for four years in a suburb outside Portland. Currently I teach 8th grade ELA and just love middle schoolers.
I’ve known I wanted to be a teacher since I was in 3rd grade. The prompt my teacher assigned: what do you want to be when you grow up? I distinctly remember writing about how I wanted to be a teacher, just like my grandpa and aunt. (My grandfather ended up retiring as a superintendent of a school district in San Jose; his whole career was in education.) In college, I dabbled in a few different majors before coming back to teaching and I am so glad I did! There is no other job I could see myself doing. I love helping students discover a love for reading and writing.
Outside my time teaching, you can find me baking in my kitchen, (you can check out my food blog at www.hollybakes.com), enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with my family.
Happy teaching!
